International Geo-Hazards Research Society

Welcome to IGRS

IGRS (International Geo-Hazards Research Society) is an international non-profit Society based in Dresden, Germany. Through its network of international members, the Society is dedicated to the dissemination of scientific information on all aspects of natural hazards; namely earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, floods, and all related topics.

The Society was established in Dresden Germany in May 2007

The Aim and Purpose:

Promote International colloboration leading to multidisplinary GEO-HAZARD RESEARCH (fundamental and applied) as well as create synergy among its members to get involved in multi-disciplinary and multi-national projects on the following research areas:

  • Earthquakes
  • Landslides
  • Volcanoes
  • Tsunami
  • Anthropogenic activities
  • Dam instability
  • Man-induced geohazards (subsidence, induced seismicity etc.)
  • Radiation Hazards
  • Utilizing multi-disciplinary techniques;
    • Geochemical Monitoring (Gas and hydro geochemistry)
    • Geophysical Monitoring (Seismology, ULF EM, Seismics)
    • Geodetical Monitoring (GPS, Insar, borehole tilt, stress, strain and microgravity)
    • Remote Sensing (Earth surface observation; T Anomalies IR technology; Ionosphere observation)
    • Modeling
